Upcoming Events in San Diego for May 2025

San Diego is bustling with exciting events this May, and as always, it promises a perfect blend of entertainment, networking, and thrill. Whether you're attending a convention, enjoying a theme park, or stepping onto the red carpet at a premiere, there's something spectacular happening every day.

Events to Look Forward To:

San Diego Comic-Con Special Edition (May 15-18, 2025): Returning with its legendary panels and exclusive sneak peeks, this mid-year edition promises smaller crowds but the same mega-entertainment.

SeaWorld San Diego Night Spectacular (Nightly through May): Dive into an extraordinary show of lights, sea life parade, and thrilling rides under the stars.

Hollywood Film Premiere (May 17, 2025): This exclusive event will be held at the historic Balboa Theatre, featuring red carpet glamour and post-film Q&A sessions.

Traffic Conditions and Transportation Tips

As events draw crowds, traffic in and around San Diego may see increased congestion. Here are the most affected areas:

Gaslamp Quarter: With iconic venues like the Balboa Theatre, expect heavy foot and vehicular traffic.

Mission Bay: The gateway to SeaWorld, anticipate delays especially during the weekend nights.

Interstate 5: A major artery of the city, it can be clogged during peak event hours.

Travelers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time. If you’re driving, consider checking real-time traffic apps for any unforeseen delays. For eco-conscious travelers, public transit or cycling are excellent alternatives, offering quick environmental wins and sometimes quicker travel times than cars.
