Current Traffic Conditions and Travel Tips

Traveling from LAX to Del Mar can be a bit daunting due to Southern California's notorious traffic. Here's what you need to know:

Highway Updates

Expect peak traffic hours on the I-405 and I-5 freeways, especially from 3 PM to 7 PM. Weekend travel is slightly less congested, but the demand increases around event days at Del Mar. To avoid delays, consider traveling outside peak hours or taking lesser-known routes such as using the Coastal Highway 1 for a scenic drive, which could add time but reduce stop-and-go frustration.

Public Transportation Options

Los Angeles has public transport options such as the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, which is a relaxing alternative to driving. However, schedules can be limited and may not be ideal if you're carrying large luggage or attending events with tight itineraries.
