Exciting Weekend Events in Southern California

As we head into the weekend starting May 16th, 2025, Southern California is buzzing with activity. Whether you're a local or visiting, there's no shortage of events to enjoy.

Disneyland and California Adventure Park (Anaheim): Don’t miss the 'Disney After Dark' event on May 17th, bringing exclusive nighttime magic and entertainment.

Location: Disneyland Dr., Anaheim, CA

Carlsbad Village Fair: Taking place on May 18th, this annual open-air festival features unique products from local artisans.

Location: Grand Ave. between Carlsbad Blvd. and Jefferson St.

San Diego Surf Film Festival: From May 15th-18th, enjoy screenings of surf films at Encinitas' historic La Paloma Theatre.

San Diego to Disneyland: Navigating Traffic

Travelers heading to Disneyland will want to prepare for heavy traffic, particularly during weekends. The I-5 North freeway, a major route to Anaheim, is known for its congestion especially during peak hours (7 AM - 9 AM and 4 PM - 7 PM). Smart apps like Waze can offer alternative routes when traffic intensifies.

Transportation Tips

Here’s how to make your Disneyland adventure truly hassle-free:

Start Early: Beat the rush by starting your journey before or after peak traffic times.

Carpool Lanes: Use carpool lanes where possible to minimize travel time.

Stay Updated: Stay informed about any roadwork or accidents on the I-5 by checking real-time traffic updates.
